Uplands PEAK Sanctuary to Host Vegan PEAKsgiving

Uplands PEAK Sanctuary is hosting their third annual Peaksgiving, a vegan-style traditional thanksgiving experience, from 1 to 4 p.m. on November 7 at the Sanctuary, in Salem. Along with a vegan dinner, there’ll be a silent auction, raffle, live music, informational booths, and a wall of gratitude for people to share things for which they are grateful.

Located on 20 acres of refuge, Uplands PEAK Sanctuary rescues and rehabilitates abused and neglected farm animals, and educates the public about the health benefits of a vegan lifestyle.
The meal, served at 2:30 p.m., will include traditional thanksgiving food with main courses, sides and desserts, as well as vegan samples including vegan beef jerky. There’ll also be tours to meet the rescues and a walking labyrinth and trail.

This year’s theme is Compassionate Gratitude. “The idea for this celebration is about gratitude and counting blessings, and for us, part of that celebration is leaving animals off your plate and celebrating your relationship with animals and the Earth, and honoring them,” says co-founder Michelle Pruitt.

Uplands PEAK is a 501(c)(3) organization and this is their biggest fundraiser of the year—all money raised at this event goes directly to their operating costs.

Admission cost: $60 for general tickets, $25 for children ages 12 and under, and $225 for VIP packages for two. Event is limited to 100 attendees. Location: 4205 W. Grandview Rd., Salem. For more information, visit
